No more threat

You ever feel nostalgic about bad things?

It makes a lot of sense to miss a good thing, because then there’s an incentive for the good thing to happen again. But what incentive is there to repeat, or even remember, a bad experience?

Nostalgia is like missing something, but with a deeper, personal, and sometimes illogical twist. So, does it make sense to miss something that hurt you or damaged you in some way?

It doesn’t really make sense, but it happens.

Maybe it’s because the thing that once hurt you is not a threat anymore. The damage passed, and you are still here. Maybe you are stronger because of it. The event became a victory in your story.

So, maybe it’s not the pain you are attached to, but the triumph that came with it.
